Summary:  
Responsible for monitoring health services for Head Start children.  Maintain a working relationship with other health care professionals within the community.  Provide health education for Head Start families; to assist in the planning and the performance of health care services for Head Start children and families; and to carry out all health care and screening services for the children and families of the Head Start Program. Must maintain full compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
 
Qualifications:
Attention to detail, good organizational and time management skills, ability to work well independently.  Strong written and verbal communication is essential as is ability to exercise good judgement and discretion. 
                       
Skills:
 
Education/Training/Experience:
Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant certificate preferred. Two years of related experience preferred. Previous Head Start experience preferred.
 
Core Elements/Responsibilities
·         Ensure completion of all 45/90 day screening and exam requirements.
·         Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all health services for Head Start children. 
·         Coordinates and monitors all health screenings per assigned area as designated by the Health Coordinator.
·         Evaluates and implements health care plans and special meal requests for children with identified health needs.
·         Assists in the education of all staff, in health and wellness training, including OSHA, CPR and First Aid under the direction of the Health Education Coordinator. 
·         Maintain full compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing Requirements.
·         Participates and supports annual community health clinics.
·         Reviews and trains staff to ensure proper administration and distribution of medication.
·         Collaborates with the Health Care Team to ensure effective health services.
·         Works closely with community agencies to provide needed health care for children, staff and volunteers.
·         Meets regularly with the Health Care Team to ensure all medical responsibilities are being met.
·         Participates in the design and implementation of medical alert manuals.
·         Attends seminars and workshops in the medical/health related field, as well as all required in service meetings.

    • Ensure the team has access to the knowledge and skills needed to do the work.

___    Yes, this position is required to drive Agency owned vehicle only as part of the job duties, therefore a valid Utah drivers license must be maintained at all times while employed in this position.  The Agency liability insurance carrier will, at new hire and annually, review the driving record of individual to determine acceptability of driver liability coverage.
